CHAPEL HILL, N.C., May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- More than half of surveyed pharmaceutical companies outsource help desk and hardware services and many have lowered the costs of these areas, reports Best Practices, LLC in a recent benchmarking study.

The study, "Pharma Sales & Marketing I.T. Benchmarks: Outsourcing Trends, Metrics and Insights," compared 10 major sales IT organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. More insight from this study can be seen at http://www3.best-in-class.com/br64.htm .

Findings also revealed: - Service level agreements are used uniformly to focus IT support performance - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week technical support coverage exists at 40% of surveyed pharma companies' - A general level of satisfaction with IT support vendors, with the most commonly mentioned vendors being Dendrite, C3i, Ajlon, Satyam, TCS and Spherion.

The study's findings are primarily benchmarks around IT outsourcing trends, performance metrics and service levels such as abandonment rates and response time requirements. Also compared are organizations' total IT staffing costs and a further cost analysis for hardware services, data center staff, production support staff and onshore application and development.
